Orientation Week
To kick off the year, the Upper Year students welcome the incoming 1L students by hosting a variety of events designed to get everybody familiar with the school, the city, and each other.
Welcome Back Breakfast
As the ‘kickoff’ for all of our Orientation Week activities, this event is the first exposure of the incoming class to TRU Law. First year students meet the rest of their cohort, and are soon joined by the Upper Year students for the “Opening Ceremonies.”
Scavenger Hunt
First year students are paired with Upper Year classmates, and together they hunt for Kamloops’ most iconic landmarks while completing various activities along the way. The hunt helps new students familiarize themselves with the city in a fun and interactive way.
Dean’s Mixer
As part of Orientation Week’s “Closing Ceremonies,” the Dean’s Mixer is a semi-formal event that caps off the week’s activities. Students are joined by the Faculty of Law and members of the Kamloops legal community.
Beach party at bruker marina
The Beach Party at Bruker Marina is a fun, social and casual event for all three years to get together, play beach games, socialize and have some snacks.
TRU LAW OLYMPICS
On the final day of Orientation Week the new students gather at Albert McGowan Park to partake in a tournament of strength, skill, and wit in order to see which team can claim the title of O-Week Champions. In the past some of the games have included dodgeball, three-legged relays, egg toss, and slip-n-slide racing.
