Every year, the Society of Law Students ("SLS") at Thompson Rivers University hosts a two-day conference focused on a particular area of the law that the SLS feels should be spotlighted. This year, we are excited to be hosting a conference with the theme “Strengthening The Light: Pro-Bono Work Within Firm Culture”.
This year, TRU’s annual SLS conference aims to address the barriers many people face when accessing justice. The conference will focus on the importance of pro-bono work, particularly within law firms, as one of the ways to mitigate these barriers. Our speakers will share their experiences with pro-bono work and discuss the significance of legal aid in reducing barriers and supporting communities. We hope to facilitate an enriching dialogue with all those attending.
The conference will be taking place on February 8th and 9th, 2024 at the TRU Campus thanks to our sponsor, Roper Greyell LLP.
February 8th will provide an opportunity to connect with speakers of the conference at a mixer event held in the TRU Old Main Atrium (located on the third floor).
February 9th is when the speakers will be presenting in the reading room across from the TRU Law Library.
The conference is free, and all law students are encouraged to attend.
We look forward to seeing you there!
